Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline installment in the iconic survival horror series, during Summer Game Fest 2025. Scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Directed by Koshi Nakanishi, renowned for his work on Resident Evil 7, RE9 introduces players to a hauntingly reimagined Raccoon City. The narrative follows Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst investigating her mother’s mysterious death in a derelict hotel. Notably, Grace is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the Resident Evil Outbreak series, adding depth to the franchise’s lore.

The reveal trailer showcases a city devastated by catastrophe, hinting at a return to the series’ horror roots. While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, Capcom describes the experience as a “heart-stopping” survival horror adventure.

Resident Evil Requiem marks a significant shift from the franchise’s recent action-oriented entries, promising a darker, more atmospheric experience that harkens back to the series’ origins. Fans can look forward to a playable demo at Gamescom later this year, offering a glimpse into the chilling world that awaits.
As the series approaches its 30th anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem aims to deliver a fresh yet familiar experience, blending new characters with beloved elements from past titles. With its compelling storyline and return to survival horror, RE9 is poised to be a standout entry in the franchise.
